Southern Ashcakes with Strawberries Tarts

A long time ago, us Southerners made Ashcakes that are very similiar to our Pancakes today.  They were cooked on the business end of a Hoe over the coals and ashes of a open fire hence the name Ashcakes! 

My Ashcake tarts are completely handmade by me with each varying in size from about 3 inches to 5 inches long x 1 inch in height and about 2 inches in width.  I've added lots of my handpoured Strawberries and topped with Brown Sugar Crumbs!  3 light tan fluffy, handrolled Ashcakes, a very generous handful of Strawberries and Brown Sugar Crumbs, the 7 inch glass plate they are settin' on and one of my "Handmade with Love" hangtags will be included in the sale. 

Beautiful placed on a Cooking Room shelf or counter or in a old Cupboard for the scent!  My Ashcakes are very heavy with the fragrance of Brown Sugar, Butter and Vanilla and they are also great for breaking apart and settin' in a tart burner!
